Saying Goodbye...

Have you ever had to say goodbye to something that hurts to do it but you know in the long run it is better for you to do so? I have had to do that and today one of the things I am saying goodbye to is energy drinks. I quit smoking over a month ago and still going strong cold turkey. I am trying to get healthy and rid myself of all the things that maybe not be so healthy in my life. Its not easy and it takes a lot of strength. Reading my blog you know I am busy some would even say very busy and the last thing on my list is sleep, but I cant rely on energy drinks to keep me going anymore. I drink 2 sometimes 3 a day and I know how bad they are for you. It is almost 4pm today and I have not had one yet. I did try this Arizona tea Energy herbal tonic. I read the can and they say they are all natural so I think that it might be a better choice for me. I would like to start the gym and eat healthy in order to have natural energy. Hey one step at a time here. Baby steps.... I am going to get there just not over night. Hope everyone is having a great day. If you have tried this tea, please tell me what you think.

This is what happens when I try to multi task....

Hi everyone, its my "Monday" and while I was away from my computer I did all the laundry, ironed all my husbands work shirts, I rearranged the pots and pans so I can find the pans that go with the right lid. I finished some Christmas shopping for a few people and I dont suggest taking any amounts of kids out shopping in the next 11 days until Christmas. I took 4 of the girls with me and we went to 4 stores. By the last store I almost bought a box of hair dye to color my hair dark to cover the gray. I heard one woman say " I remember those days" as my three year old is crying in the cart because I wont let her out so she can walk around and put things in the cart that she wants. I got one lady saying "That is why I leave my kids at home during this time of year" while again my three year old was laying on the floor of the store telling me how tired her feet were and she needed a toy to make her feel better. I didnt think I was going to make it out alive. I wrapped half my gifts, and finished one of my projects on my list of "To Do" for crafts. So tonight I work until 2am so I thought I would crochet while I work and knowing that I have to bake a few dozen chocolate chip cookies after work for my son's Winter Show tomorrow morning I thought I would start a new project. I was working, crocheting and watching the good wife. Trying to multi task which I am okay at, I have 7 kids I have to multi task but I never said I was good. SO I get half way done with my project and the yarn tension is getting tighter. I go to pull on it to loosen it a bit and I look over and what do I see. These cute cat eyes with my yarn in her paws and yes you do see she chewed it in half. I never get the TV it is on Sprout and Noggin 24 hours a day, but I happen to catch a night that all the kids were asleep so I turned on one of my favorites. I was so into "The Good Wife" and my work I never even noticed. That is what I get for multi tasking. I may be able to salvage it, if not I will have to start over. But Below you can see the one I did get done, check one off my list of 100 crafts to do. Happy Wednesday... P.S. Are you a good Multi Tasker?

Spice Up Dinner with Some Yummy Dessert

So dinner tonight was not really anything fancy, just some grilled cheese on wheat bread. I do more easy dinners then hard ones on the nights my husband works because its just me and the kids. They eat the easy stuff much better then the elaborate meals and less mess to clean up. Oh did I say that. So to spice things up a bit for them I decided to throw together these Apple Dumplings I got from Southern Loving Food Blog. I just found her blog and I am loving it already. They smelled so yummy when they were baking. I was a little worried about how brown they were but I did load the cinnamon on top. The kids loved them and really they took very little prep time. I can even imagine having them right from the oven with vanilla ice cream on top. I have to worn you how sticky the pan is. I have mine still soaking and It has been hours. I just bought this pan so I hope it comes clean. I dont know about anyone else, but I like a brand new baking sheet when I am ready to make Christmas cookies. Just makes me feel so much better. I know I still have not posted any new projects that are finished, but I just have not had time. I had 3 parent teacher conferences Monday and Today was filled with yearly physical exams for half the kids and flu shots along with some standing in line at he post office. I promise soon. Happy Thursday.

PS I read my post because I do that sometimes when I wonder if I am being interesting or just plain boring and I found so many typos. How does that happen when you type a word wrong it gets underlined by a red line right? Am I that tired when I am blogging? Ok back to my coffee and crafting.

Good Way To Start The Weekend

If you read my blog you know that I love to do blog hops and I am so excited to say that I won a $25 dollar gift certificate from Restaurants.com from Debbie at Lucas's Journey. You should join her hop, she does one for the weekend and you can add your Twitter and your blogfrog, network blogs, and Facebook. So if you get a chance stop by and link up your favorite network sites. I am very excited. This is a restaurant that we go to often with he kids and they will be happy to go again soon. Thank you again Debbie from Lucas's Journey. On top of that I got to go and see my dad today. He can really make you laugh and then he makes me want to cry because I can see and hear the frustration in his voice when he thinks he is in another state in a hotel working and I have to remind him he is in the hospital. I still just want to snap my fingers and make him better. I did get a great picture although its dark because the lights were off and I have a horrible phone and well Santa if your listening I need a new digital camera. I have 7 kids and tons of memories I am missing out on because I dont have one... like this sweet precious memory I will treasure. My youngest with her head on my dads chest. I dont think in her almost four years they have gotten the chance to lay like this. That is my fault she is a bit of a mommies girl and until recently was pretty much stuck on my hip even with my mom too. Didnt get any crafting done today, but it was well worth it. Have a good day and hope to post a finished project tomorrow.
So Followed Saturday

Few things I learned about when someone you love is ill

I was in the grocery store today buying cake mix and frosting to make my parents an anniversary cake. December 3rd, (I think 1977 sorry mom cant remember) is there anniversary and they have been married over 30 years. My dad on November 15th of this year had a brain aneurysm that burst and had to have surgery, a drainage tube and was in a small coma. Today he is staying in a center for care and rehab so that he can go home once he is strong enough to do the every day things he will need to do even as little as walking. He is getting better every day and its a miracle that he is living. So back to my story, my brain is all over the place these days. I was in line buying cake mix and frosting so that tonight I can bake a cake for their anniversary and tomorrow my sister can take it to the rehab and surprise my parents with it. I cant go because well again I am sick and so it is best I stay home and not bring germs to my dad who needs to stay strong. There was a magazine and the front caught my eye because it was about thyroid issues and changing diet to help when medicine doesnt, I had to have it of course. I have been dealing with thyroid since my first born 11 years ago. I grabbed it skimmed it in the car picking the kids and came across these amazing tips that fit right into my life. I thought I would share them, maybe they fit into yours too. When caring for someone you love that is ill, the First is to ask before helping.. you automatically want to jump up and help and do everything but Kim McNair M.S.W says that someone healing and in recovery needs to feel some control so instead of always doing maybe ask first. Second, Giving them something to smile about. Illness is a serious matter but laughter really can be the best medicine. And Third, Giving yourself a break. This one I have heard before and the doctor even told my Mom... No matter how close you are to the person you need to give yourself some me time. Do something you love and enjoy. You cant help anyone if you are not taking care of yourself. Happy Friday and Have a great weekend.I will be creating some new items for This-n-That Boutique and will be sure to share soon.

What a week...

Wow what a week, so you know those weeks that you look back on and you got nothing done in the time you had and you wonder where did it go. That was my week for sure. I had this big things to do list while I had a week of kids being out of school. I know what you are thinking, silly girl how can you do anything while the kids are out of school, let alone 7 kids. I still thought I could do some extra things with my time. WRONG I got nothing on my list done. Every day passed by and I wondered where did it go. I had more messes to clean, more loads of laundry to do, and more MOM can you do this for me. A few nights after a long 10 hour day of working I would shut the lights off and make the house dark so I could forget about the mess. LOL. One night I couldnt take it anymore so I stayed up until 4am to clean and wow let me tell you a 7 year old just does not know how to clean her room. There were things in places I didnt even know she had. I mean really does the hair brush go in the laundry basket and her little sisters shoes in the toy box. Anyways during this week of work, cleaning, laundry, kids, and mess I did also spend sometime baking and putting up the tree visiting my dad in the hospital. Oh and I made two new hats too. So here are some pics of what I was up to for the week of me being MIA....

Becoming a habit..

I think that this is becoming a habit. I cant seem to sleep but this time it is because of more then one thing. My Dad had an aneurysm on Monday, surgery on Tuesday, a few complications but he is awake and now it is time for him to heal. He is not out of the woods yet and it worries me. The worrying is making it so I cant sleep and in order to keep my mind from racing all over the place I am crocheting and crafting in between my pacing watching the phone and waiting. It is a big waiting game now. I am praying and crossing my fingers and hoping everyday he gets stronger. So in the meantime this is my new hat I made. I have never made a "puff" stitch beanie and here it is. I love the colors, not sure if anyone else will but I do. This one will fit a newborn to about three months old. It is the first one that This-n-That Boutique has carried, lets see how it goes over. I have so much more to make and my Dad will be in the hospital at least another week minimum. So keep checking back for new creations while I live through my stress, worrying, anxiety, and lack of sleep.... more to come. And of course tell me what you think?

Just something I whipped up Today

I usually take Monday off from even touching the computer, it is my day to clean and bake and spend time with the kids since they are all here on Monday's but now that I am trying to work harder on crafting I will be visiting my blog and uploading pictures a little more on Monday's. For this reason I thought I would show you what I "whipped" up last night, the kids were asking me to make some headbands. I have 5 girls ranging from age 3 to 9 so I thought I would come up with something simple but still cute that they call could wear. Plus to be honest with you I have a HUGE bucket of scrap material that I could not for the life of me think of something to do with it. So this worked out good for all of us. The girls were so excited to wear them to school today and they were already asking if we could make more when they got home from school. So I guess my idea worked out. I was thinking about it last week, but people told me not to put the flower on a skinny headband and I did it anyways. I think it worked out okay. You be the judge and tell me what you think? If I get at least 10 comments I will give one away using random.org on Wednesday. I also put a flower on a clip to. So please comment away and give some opinions.
